Review

This one is a heartbreaker and that’s the main thing you need to know before opening this book. As you move through the pages you grow with Iris. At the very beginning it’s abundantly clear that she is a teenager whose self preservation skills haven’t quite kicked in and she comes across quite immature but it’s beautiful to see her grow, her journey of grief and coming to terms with life altering revelations is tough, it’s sad and hard to read at times but i think this is an important book for young people to read. To see that the healing journey isn’t easy but you can get through it. How while independence is good, it doesn’t hurt to let people in once in a while. There are many, many lessons to be learnt here. Beashel has written a moving and powerful novel that will hit you right in the heart.
