Review:

A cute and unique spin on the traditional tale of Rumpelstiltskin

I’m glad I got to read this book it was an easy read with a morally grey MC who came from a poor background and suddenly finds herself thrust into a palace and courtly life. Two men, one blissfully unaware of his love rival forms an intriguing love triangle. Forbidden love and a relationship based on lies. And whilst living a life of deception our MC is also a force for hope and good for those who are underprivileged within the kingdom. There are a lot of court politics at play which adds a healthy does of scandal and intrigue.

Nor is unapologetically upfront, she doesn’t hold back or cower in the face of the nobility and rich folk. She has no issue with telling them they’re spoilt and I think that’s what makes her a particularly likeable character.

Overall this is a fun easy read, compelling enough to make you want the next one immediately to see if your hunches play out. The writing style is pleasant and easy to follow. There was in my opinion some filler but maybe it’ll be relevant in the next book! Definitely recommend for fans of retellings. I’m looking forward to seeing how the story plays out.

Brandie June loves storytelling in all sorts of formats, whether she is marketing animated movies or writing fantasy novels.
